A friend sent this in to me today. Security vendor MessageLabs is having a contest to find the 6 most security challenged small businesses in the US and UK. MessageLabs will provide the winners with one year of their products and services for free. Ok…yes I am technically breaking my own rule on posting about a product that I do not use. I do have my reasons though.
I think that SMB’s are usually at the short end of the stick when it comes to having adequate security budget and qualified security people on staff. If you want confirmation of that, check out the security forum at TechSoup. You will see what these companies have to work with. Scary. I’m all for anything that will help the small biz community. With that being said, I also recognize this for what it is….a sales / marketing campaign for MessageLabs. If it works out they get many, many very qualified leads for their sales machine to follow up on. Nothing is truly free
If you work for a small business and would like a shot at free Messagelabs services (and don’t mind the associated sales calls), give it a shot.
While I am not technically a customer since I do not use their products, I do subscribe to their Intelligence reports and alerts. Their statistics are also quoted quite often in the press.
