Trend Micro launches anti-botnet service

Mon, Sep 25, 2006

Industry News, Security

Trend Micro has launched a service called InterCloud to help ISP’s deal with the problem of bots and botnets today. It looks like a mix of their anomaly engine (BASE) and good old fashioned carbon based life forms doing analyses on security data.

I don’t know much more about the program but it sounds interesting. Let’s see how many ISP’s they hook and keep. I think the “keeping” of customers will be the trickiest here. You know these ISP’s will be looking for increased help desk calls due to false positives from the InterCloud system. It’s one of the reasons ISP’s haven’t been exactly proactive in the security arena.
