Mass State Police lose plastic explosives

Sat, Sep 9, 2006

Security

I saw this in the Boston Globe. Massachusetts State Police Troop F (quit with the F Troop jokes, I’m sure they’ve heard them) were conducting training exercises with bomb sniffing dogs at Logan Airport in Boston. Apparently they hid 8 ounces of Semtex plastic explosives under the bumper of a truck belonging to the airport. An airport employee got in the truck and drove about a mile and a half. Police were still looking for the explosives.

Bruce Schneier said on his blog that “It’s only eight ounces of the stuff, but still….”. I really hope he is kidding. Why? Take a look at what 7 ounces can do to a pressurized Boeing 747:

before

After

There is also a movie of this here

Any questions????
